Epworth Old Rectory exterior - plan your trip

To make your trip as enjoyable and relaxing as possible we have provided some key facts to help you plan your trip and make the most of your time in Epworth.

How to Find Us

The market town of Epworth lies just off the A161 Goole to Gainsborough road. It is three miles south of the M180 Junction 2 and twelve miles north of Gainsborough.

From the south: After the town sign, turn right off the A161 on to Blow Row. Turn right at the next crossroads on to Mowbray Street. At the next junction go straight ahead. The Rectory is on the left.

From the north: After the town sign, turn left off the A161 at the traffic lights. Drive straight on through the town. Continue past the Market Cross on your right and the Red Lion on your left and drive up Albion Hill. The road bends to the right and then to the left and the Rectory is on the left at the top of the hill after you come round the left-hand bend.

Bus

Bus service numbers 291 and 399 serve Epworth from Doncaster train station and 399 serves Epworth from Scunthorpe bus station. There is a bus stop directly outside the Old Rectory. However, these are not very frequent services so it is worth checking timetables before travelling.

Coach

Many coach companies operate in the area. If your group wishes to tour various sites in the UK, why not arrange for a coach to meet your train or plane and help you with your travelling? A Sheffield and Grimsby based company is Coopers Tours.

Taxi

Taxis are constantly available at Doncaster train station but it is advisable to pre-book a taxi if you are arriving at Crowle or Retford train stations. Two local taxi companies are: Epworth Taxis and Axholme Taxis, telephone 01427 871486. For information regarding onward travel from Retford see the National Rail information leaflet.

There is a small car park at the Old Rectory. If you approach the Rectory from Epworth town centre, the car park is on the left beyond the buildings. There is space for two coaches if pre-booked.

For special large events at the Old Rectory, we open up part of the croft for additional car parking. This will be clearly sign-posted on those occasions.

There are a number of public car parks in Epworth town centre, but they fill up very quickly.
