John Wesley preaching from his pulpit

A flatback of John Wesley

A flatback figure of John Wesley preaching from his pulpit, this would have been an extremely popular Victorian souvenir which was made in Potteries, Staffordshire.

The figurine has a flat back so that it could of been pushed tight against a wall and likely stood on someone’s mantlepiece for many a-year.

Perhaps these ornaments were declarations of faith showing that being a Methodist was important to them – it would say a great deal about the owners life choices so why not celebrate and rejoice in it!
