round metal object thought to be a trivet

Cast iron object found under the southern fireside alcove floor in the fore kitchen at Epworth Old Rectory and thought to have been used to re-level a relaid floor (See note above re date)There are cut-outs radiating from the centre of the object and a solid lug which would have had a spigot beneath it to attach to a vertical ornamental projection on the fire bars. You could then put a kettle or teapot on the trivet and swing it over the hot coals.
