oak coffer chest

Oak lid of chest has three panels. The front has a carved foliate decoration and plain stiles. Both the back and sides have two plain panels. The base has the wood grain going from front to back. The" candle box" or more correctly a box to contain sweet smelling herbs, has been removed but the grooves into which it was fitted can still be seen. The joints are pegged and there are 2 original iron loop hinges.
