White earthenware octagonal plate with head and shoulders portrait of John Wesley 3/4 right in the centre ( after George Romney-Baxter print) At the top of the plate is an open-ended moulded relief ribbon surrounding a black transfer-print arched inscription "John Wesley. Born June17th 1703. Died March2nd 1791. At the bottom of the plate is an open-ended moulded relief ribbon surrounding a black transfer-print arched inscription "The world is my parish" Around the side of the plate there are 6 pictures in oval frames with inscriptions below within a double lined plain border. Each inscription is separated by the letters W to top of an M. The top right picture is of a teapot. Inscription "Wesley's teapot". Next is a picture of a tomb with an obelisk, railings and property in the background. Inscription "He, being dead, yet speaketh". The last right picture is a chair on a rug with the inscription "Wesley's chair". The top left picture is of a child being rescued from a house on fire. Inscription "A brand from the burning." Next is a picture of a house. Inscription "Wesley's birthplace" and finally there is a picture of a building with several people outside an open door and the inscription "First headquarters of Methodism"
