Earthenware round plate with two holes in the top border to facilitate hanging on a wall. The subject is Adam Clarke in a half - length profile facing 3/4 left in the manner of John Jackson R.A. (1778-1831) portrait probably from the engraving by James Posslewhite (fl 1849-53) The border decoration consists of an outer edge relief moulding which is unpainted and white, a second black border, a third mustard border and a fourth white border. In the centre is the image of Clarke and 2 inscriptions.
