Earthenware figure of John Wesley in the manner of Minton shape 47. The hair is styled in a single roll at each side with ringlets resting on the shoulders and coloured grey. The face is flesh coloured, the pupils are black. The cheeks are pale pink and the lips are red. The cassock is black and there is a white cravat. The bands are white and come from the top of the cravat. The legs have white stockings with black smudges and the shoes are black. The gown is calf length with full folds outlined in gold and the shirt cuffs are white with a gold band. The right hand is held shoulder high and the left hand is at chest height and is holding an open book (Bible). The book is open and has a red cover and gold edges. On the open pages are 4 columns of black lines and a black line separating the columns. The socle is square with chamfered corners and there are 2 painted with gold lines.
