Parian bust of John Wesley on bow fronted waisted socle

Parian bust of John Wesley in the manner of Enoch Wood modelled from life in 1791 Series 2. The back is solid and concave. The hair is single roll on shoulder. The gown is in full folds and the band comes from the top of the cravat. The socle has a square base and round top. On each side there are recessed squares with concave corners. The socle is attached to the bust with a brass nut and a brass screw.

The Reverend John Wesley. M.A. Fellow of Lincoln College, Oxford and founder of Methodism. He sat for this bust to Mr. Enoch Wood, sculptor, Burslem 1791 and died in 1791 aged 88 years.
